Cheshire Schools Cross Country Championships Knights Grange Wilmslow 2nd February 2019

The Cheshire Schools Cross Country Championships wee held at Knights Grange Wilmslow on Saturday 2nd February with 27 runners from Warrington Athletic Club taking part 26 for Warrington Schools and 1 for Halton & Frodsham.
in the Senior Boys race Joe Buckley was an outstanding winner with Ben Webb (Halton & Frodsham) 6th and Jack Wadsworth in 8th.In the Senior Girls Olivia Baker was the only runner finishing in 8th place.
In the intermediate races Jess Connolly ran well to finish 4th in the girls race with Madeleine Anderson 15th and Niamh Aldridge 28th.Emma Kettle was unable too finish.In the Boys race Isaaq Ataullah and Joe Roberts had a race long battle finishing in 4th and 5th places respectively.
In the Junior Girls the Warrington team had 11 runners with only 1 not being from the club.First to finish was Orla Gregory in 8th place with Lucie Davies 17th,Maisie Bell 18th,Emily Entwistle 19th,Molly Wormald 22nd,Eva Ferris 26th,Jasmine Jones 39th,Bella Robbins 48th,Grace Edwards 54th and Grace Callaghan 55th.In the Boys race Erik Marshall finished in 8th place with Ben Pucill 19th and Marcus Trevithick 22nd.
In the Minor Girls race Harriet Bell ran well to finish in 4th place with Alice Nicholson 6th and Evie Owen 16th while in the Minor Boys Zak Chamun ran well finishing in 10th place.
Following these Championships the teams to represent Cheshire at the English Schools Championships at Temple Newsam Leeds on 16th March will be selected with the first 5 from the Junior ,Intermediate and Senior events being automatically selected and 3 discretionary places to be added.This means that the club has 4 definite selections with 5 others likely to be added.
The Minor age group select the first twenty to take part in an Inter County Match against Merseyside at Ellesmere Port on 27th March meaning all 4 of the club’s runners should be selected.
